The Story of BearPaw Boards

Built with Purpose. Crafted by Hand.

In 2020, during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, life—like it did for so many others—slowed down for me. My full-time job had cut my hours to every other week, and I suddenly had time on my hands that I wasn’t used to. That’s when my wife did something simple but powerful: she bought me a used table saw off Facebook Marketplace.

At first, the goal was just to build her some above-ground garden boxes. But once I got my hands on that saw, something clicked. The feeling of creating something from raw wood—something real, functional, and beautiful—awoke a creative side I hadn’t fully tapped into.

Then came Father’s Day.

My wife bought me a set of cornhole boards from Amazon. They were fun—but the build quality just didn’t sit right with me. So I decided to make my own. I took that same table saw and a few tools in my garage and crafted my version of what a cornhole board should be. Sturdy, clean, and made with intention.

I posted a photo of the finished boards on social media.

That post changed everything.

Orders started rolling in. Friends told friends. People wanted more. And just like that, BearPaw Boards was born—right there in my garage, in the middle of a pandemic.

Since then, I’ve grown the business from a few boards a month to a full custom woodworking brand. Today, I use a 4x4 CNC machine that allows me to craft precise, small-batch creations that combine modern design with timeless craftsmanship. From handcrafted whiskey smokers and cigar ashtrays to cutting boards, charcuterie boards, and beyond—I now help others bring their ideas to life through custom CNC work and woodcraft.

What started as a garden box and a simple cornhole board is now a passion-driven business built on quality, creativity, data opt, and purpose.

Welcome to BearPaw Boards.

Hi, I’m Bryan — builder, designer, U.S. Marine Corps veteran, and the creative force behind every piece you see here.

My journey from serving our country to working with my hands has shaped how I approach my craft: with discipline, integrity, and an unshakable attention to detail. Every item I create is a reflection of those values — rugged, refined, and built to last.

Located in Tampa, Florida, my workshop is where raw hardwoods meet inspired design. It’s more than just a workspace — it’s a place of transformation, where ideas are forged with purpose and precision. With every cut, sand, and finish, I strive to create pieces that speak to both function and feeling.
